Do you want the most nutritious flour for baking??

Uncategorized Apr 28, 2020

Cooking and baking have become a part of our daily e-learning...science, math, home economics...are you using it too??

We also have a golden opportunity to teach our kiddos a healthy lifestyle by using fresh whole ingredients and sharing with them proper portions, quality of food and why we need to eat a healthy diet.

I have been experimenting with new flours for baking and cooking that up the nutritional game and still taste amazing...my kiddos don’t even know the difference and I can feel good about what I am giving them.

Get rid of your unbleached white flour as quickly as possible, they are not doing anything good for your bodies.

Here are my favs:

Almond Flour- it’s nutty and delicious.  It’s great for baking and cooking.  We use it as breading for chicken and fish...baking yummy breads and cakes. Just make sure you find a recipe that uses almond flour and do not try to swap white flour for almond, the ratios are not the same. (This flour is high in protein, manganese, vitamin E and monounsaturated fats, low in carbohydrates, and contains fiber.)

Coconut flour-fair warning- if you are not a coconut fan you might not like this option.  I love it but it can leave a little bit of a coconut taste to dishes so if that's not your thing-almond might be a better swap. ( Rich in fiber and MCTs, it may promote stable blood sugar, good digestion, and heart health.)

Gluten Free Flour- I tend to use this sparingly.  It is a direct swap for white flour for baking.  We tend to use this more for pizza dough's and baking for a true airy bread feel. (  ingredients like quinoa, almonds, and beans offer nutritional benefits (such as protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals).

Give these options a try and hit me up on IG to tell me what you loved most. @shannon_yundt
