Oh man...we are almost there.
Can you believe that 2020 is almost over??
Time to set our sights on a new year and the chance to make a new, fresh start to our lives.
I am not a fan of writing new years resolutions because the stats on achieving them is poor. I do, however, believe in the power of goal setting for reaching goals and that includes a never give up attitude.
Here are my tips for writing goals:
1. Think about the areas of your life you want to improve. Rate the areas of your life on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a complete failure and 10 being perfection.
Here is the list of areas to rank:
Physical Health
Mental Health
Environment
Hobbies/Fun
Relationships
Family
Friendships
Finances
Work/Career
Spirituality
Personal Growth
2. Now take 5 lowest ranking goals and brainstorm ways to improve in these areas of your life. Make a list of things you could be doing to improve these aspects of your life. Research the information you need to make a plan to reach these goals.
3. Write at least 1 goals for each area. Make sure it is specific and measurable. The goal should push you outside your comfort zone and challenge you. Set a date to complete this goal.
Example:
In 1 month, I will be able to eat each meal without signs of digestive discomfort or bloat by sitting at table uninterrupted for each meal, taking 3 deep breaths and chewing each bite 30-50 times.
4. Once you have your goals, now you need an action plan to achieve them and a tracking system for daily progress. Start a journal to document and track your daily progress towards your goals so you can see if black and white how you are doing.
Reaching goals should be exciting for you and not a daunting task. You have got this.
Happy Goal Setting!!
